Left-Handed Circular Polarization
Left-Hand Circular Polarization (LHCP) occurs when the horizontal field component is -90 degrees out-of-phase with the vertical field component.
Notes:
  • This time curl the fingers of your left hand around the circular path of the field arrows.  If this is truly a LHCP uniform plane wave, your thumb should be pointing in the direction of propagation.
  • For both types of circular polarization, the magnitude of the field does not vary with respect to time.  The fields simply rotate with a constant angular velocity of 2pf radians/sec, where f is the frequency of radiation.
