GEORGIA - Team1 has been approached by the Georgia district attorney's office to help with investigations and analysis of crime-scene cellular data.
Team1, a group of 7th-level wavemasters from the Georgia Institute of Technology, has accepted an offer to compete against firms for contracts on a list of high-profile cases. The competition is divided into two phases. In phase I, Team1 will be using geographical information services (GIS) maps and measurements to create a propagation model that will produce accurate received signal strength maps for real-live cellular base stations. The Georgia DA will provide Team1 with several test maps to test the model and then be asked to turn in four blind signal strength maps. For phase II, the DA office has asked for scientific analysis of cell phone records to serve as a key component in the trial against alleged murderers. The firm with the most accurate propagation model and most-thorough analysis of the phase II data will win the contract.
