Crescent comm
Who We Are
Welcome to Crescent Comm! Founded in 2007, Crescent Comm is a small engineering design team formed to compete for the Google Lunar X- Prize as a part of the ECE 6390 Satellite Communications and Navigation Systems course at Georgia Tech. As the competition guidelines state, Crescent Comm seeks to “successfully land a privately-funded craft on the lunar surface long enough to complete the mission goals of roaming about the lunar surface for at least 500 meters and sending a defined data package, called a “Mooncast,” back to Earth.” As a multidisciplinary design team, Crescent Comm has developed a robust proposal for the X-Prize that encompasses aspect of communications, power systems, propulsion, trajectory analysis, and rover systems design. Thank you for visiting and please take a moment to explore our website to see what Crescent Comm is doing to make privately-funded space exploration a reality!
mission overview
To compete for the Google Lunar X-Prize, Crescent Comm proposes to launch a spacecraft to the Moon consisting of a lunar lander (Googol), which will deploy a rover (Vanguard). The Vanguard will communicate with the Deep Space Network (DSN) on Earth via a relay on the Googol.
