TM2 Mode of a Planar Waveguide
The TM2 waveguide mode is the next higher mode in the planar waveguide.
Notes:
  • TM2 propagates slower than both the TE1 and TM1 in the same waveguide with the same frequency of excitation.
  • As the order of the mode increases, there are more "nodes" in the field distribution from top to bottom.  You can see 2 distinct regions of swirling propagation whereas the TE1 and TM1 modes had only 1.  These nodes and regions increase proportional to the order in the parallel plate waveguide.
