RMAPS® Power Specifications

The longest single moonwalk in history occurred during the Apoollo 17 mission in 1972. The moonwalk was reported to have lasted 7 hours 36 minutes and 56 seconds. However, during the course of the mission, over 22 hours of moonwalks were recorded. This was our starting point in choosing a power supply, yet we felt the need to be prepared for much longer spacewalks in the future. Since RMAPS® is built using low power ZigBee® components, there is a fair amount of flexibility in choosing a power supply. The original design calls for a more powerful supply than is actually needed for RMAPS® operation. This extra power is intended for powering peripheral sensors used for data collection. If desired, the circuit can be configured to work with a lighter, more compact power supply.
