SARSAT: Search and Rescue Satellite Aided Tracking

This website is dedicated to helping others use SARSAT to quickly locate an emergency position indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) no matter where on the globe the accident occurred.  Many planes have an EPIRB that is turned on when a crash occurs.  Hopefully others can learn from us and find the location of a crash much faster than we did.

On September 29, 2005, ECE Airways Flight 6390 crash landed somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean.

On November 15, 2005, the location of the crash site was finally found.  We had lost all hope that there were any survivors but when we finally found them they were partying hard and eating at Dirty Durgin’s Crab Shack on Bimini Island.

The links provided below should be very helpful in locating the EPIRB much faster.  Also there are tips on resolving ambiguities and receiver design.
