A raised cosine pulse is used for the transmission. In order to confine most of the radiated energy within the designated bandwidth, the value of roll-off factor for the raised cosine filter is 0.4. The diagrams below show the time domain raised cosine pulse and the frequency domain spectrum of the pulse.
We will use a raised-cosine pulse shape filter to constrain the bandwidth of the system for a band limited channel. The raised cosine filter has been used which conveniently satisfies the nyquist criterion for zero ISI over band-limited channels.
