About Google Lunar X Prize
 
The Google Lunar X Prize is a not-for-profit compettion put on by both the internet search giant Google and the X-Prize Foundation. The homepage for the competition itself is located at Google Lunar X Prize.
 
X-Prize tasks
  • Soft land a craft on the lunar surface
  • Roam for no less than 500 meters
  • Transmit 360° photography to Earth
  • Transmit rover self-portraits to Earth
  • Transmit near-real time HD video to Earth
  • Transmit cached data to Earth (~e-mail)
  • Extra
    • Roam upwards of 5km
    • Image Apollo/Surveyor/Ranger or other historical artifacts
    • Survive a lunar night (~14.5 days)
    • Discover water/ice
