Lunar Bread Crumbs

Advanced Lunar Location TECHnologies provides the best in location tracking services on the lunar surface. We are committed to a cost-efficient and highly accurate solution to ensure a safe and productive moonwalk. Using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, increased load on the astronaut is minimized, while providing sufficient resources to guarantee an accurate location estimate. Additionally, a communication link between the astronaut and the Lander is provided to support live audio, video, or other informational data up to 2km away.

Location

Our advanced location algorithm and strategy provides the most accurate location estimate during moonwalks. With 450 RFIDs availalbe per moonwalk and a maximum range of 9.79 m per RFID, we guarantee a safe return to the Lander. Our solution provides two efficient algorithms for two scenarios: wandering in a "straight" line and covering the most area possible near the Lander.

Lifetime

At just over 7.8 hours operational time, we support long distance and lengthy moonwalks. Operational time is of great importance, as moonwalks could last several hours, and getting back to the lander safely is critical. Additionally, our location service is guaranteed for over 8 moonwalks, ensuring a cost-effective solution. Using a Polymer Li-ion battery, getting ready for the next moonwalk is as simple as recharging and replenishing the RFID supply.

Communication

With more than 100 Kbps throughput, a live feed between the astronaut and the Lander providing audio, video, or other informational data is easily supported. At 2km guaranteed operation, highly-productive long-distance lunar excursions are possible. This communication link will prove essential to rewarding moonwalks.
